Give each quotation the same starting point
Prepare one description of the planned work: room layout, fixtures to keep or move, selected products and known access constraints. Explain which decisions remain open. Comparing different descriptions can produce prices for different jobs.
Keep repair of an existing fault separate from optional renovation work so each proposal can address both explicitly.
Compare inclusions before totals
Look for the equipment supplied, connection work, removal, access and surface reinstatement included in each proposal. Ask which tasks are arranged with another trade or are conditional on an assessment.
Do not assume that a fixture price includes installation, or that plumbing work includes the full room finish. Ask for differences to be explained in writing.
Record the next decisions
Clarify what needs confirming before work can be scheduled: product selection, access approval or a further assessment. Keep the agreed version of the scope with subsequent changes.
